Hello! And welcome to Bad Cyclist!
Who is the Bad Cyclist?
My name is Riz. I’m the voice, writer, and content creator behind Bad Cyclist. I live and ride in Toronto, Canada though I’ve grown up all over the world. I was born in the Middle East (although my parents are Bengali), lived and studied in England and France, and immigrated to Canada in 2013 (I officially became a citizen in 2019!).

I’ve been fortunate to ride in a lot of different places – and that means, on different terrains, and in different climates. But also, alongside many different temperaments, and abilities. And that’s actually one of the reasons I decided to start this blog.
What is Bad Cyclist?
Bad Cyclist is a blog dedicated to casual and beginner cyclists that are still at the earlier part of their cycling journeys. I feel that cycling resources are too often geared towards amateur racers, pros, and hardcore enthusiasts while the casual cyclist is left with very little information or guidance (even though, they’re arguably the ones that need it most!).
Ever wondered what’s a good bike to begin with…that won’t cost you thousands of dollars, or maybe what’s a good cycling movie to get you amped for your next ride? Then this is the place for you.

Given the nature of some of the information presented here, I should let you know that I’m not a cycling coach or a nutritionist. And while I do have experience in coaching sports, working in gyms, and competing in sports, the information presented here is for entertainment and general knowledge only. Your specific needs and circumstances are unknown to me, and may require a different approach to anything I outline.
If you’re looking for serious levels of improvement (i.e. you’re interested in competition), then you should absolutely look into hiring a professional coach.

Have we met before?
Well, I do have one of those faces. But I also happen to be the blogger behind Chocolates & Chai – a food blog that’s focused on brunch, comfort food, and dessert recipes. If that’s something you’re into, then please do check it out!
You may also know me if you’re an avid reader – if you’re interested in my books and stories, the best place to follow me is at rizwanasad.com.
